If you want to earn from your blog or website? Google AdSense is the easiest way to monetize your content by showing relevant ads to your visitors. So here I will give you a step-by-step guide to set up AdSense and start earning.
1. Check eligibility & prepare your site
Before you apply, make sure you are at least 18 years old, own the site or channel you’ll monetize, and have original, policy-compliant content and easy navigation. Fix broken pages, add a clear About/Contact/Privacy Policy, and produce several high-quality posts so your site looks ready for review.
2. Create or use a Google account
If you don’t already have one, make a Google (Gmail) account. Use a professional email tied to you or your blog — it makes payments and verification simpler. Then go to the AdSense start page and click Get started.
3. Sign up and submit your site
Fill the AdSense sign-up form: add your site URL, contact details, and choose your payment country. You’ll be asked whether AdSense can send performance tips — you can enable this to get helpful suggestions. After submission, AdSense will ask you to connect your site (they’ll give a small piece of code or instructions).
4. Connect your site (implement ad code)
AdSense will provide a code snippet you must add to your site so Google can review it and start serving ads. On Blogger, you can either apply via the Earnings tab or paste the Auto-ads code into your theme’s <head> section (Theme → Edit HTML). If you use WordPress, use a Google-approved plugin or place the code in the header. Auto ads make setup easiest because Google places and optimizes units automatically.
5. Wait for review & approval
Google will review your site and payment details to ensure policy compliance. This review usually takes a few days, but it can also take longer (sometimes 2–4 weeks). You’ll get an email with the activation status. If rejected, AdSense will explain why so you can fix issues and reapply.
6. Complete address verification (PIN)
When your earnings reach the verification threshold, Google will mail a PIN to the payment address you entered. It typically takes ~3–4 weeks to arrive. Enter the PIN in your AdSense dashboard within the allowed time (generally 4 months) or ads may stop showing. If the PIN doesn’t arrive, you can request replacements and follow Google’s troubleshooting steps.
7. Add payment info & understand payout timing
In Payments → Manage Settings, add your bank details and tax info so you can receive funds. Google pays once your balance reaches the payment threshold and there are no holds — payouts are processed monthly (payments are finalized early each month and issued between the 21st–26th typically). Check AdSense Payments for your local methods and schedules.
8. Start optimizing
After activation, choose Auto ads or create ad units (display, in-article, matched content). Track performance from the AdSense dashboard, respect policy changes, and experiment with placement to improve CTR and RPM.
